The visual stimulus for this lesson is The Sand Symbols video, a story about an Aboriginal Elder sharing cultural and historical knowledge with her grandchildren, and discovering comparisons between modern and traditional Australian societies.

TELL THE TIME (GAME)

Tell the Time is a fun game that teaches students how to tell the time in both analogue and digital formats. Kenny Kangaroo accompanies them through several levels of fifteen-minute, half hour, and hourly time increments. This game is suitable for students from Foundation to Year 6.

TORRES STRAIT ISLANDS WEATHER SEASONS WHEEL (INTERACTIVE)

The Torres Strait Islands Weather Seasons Wheel interactive includes animated images, and traditional and landscape setting sounds. It explains how Torres Strait Islander people tell the weather by looking at changes in nature, such as the migration and nesting patterns of birds, wind patterns and the movement of constellations.

Loose Change is an interactive maths game that uses Australian money. Addition and subtraction activities assist students in identifying Australian coins and their individual values. It includes several skill levels and is perfect for early learners.

THE BROLGA SONG (VIDEO)

Brolga Song is one of twelve ancient Dreaming stories, each story uniquely interpreted by contemporary animators, musicians, artists, writers and actors. It tells of a man’s search for his dreaming-fathers in the native animals. This story explores the themes of culture and one’s place in Aboriginal society.

BUSH TUCKER – KANGAROO TAIL SOUP (GAME)

Bush Tucker Recipe – Kangaroo Tail Soup is an interactive online game where students tick off and drag ingredients to follow a recipe and make a bush tucker dish. It is a fun, instructional exercise that uses traditional Aboriginal food.

Bush Food Delight is an exciting rhyming poem for early learners that uses descriptive language to explain the different types of bush foods that can be found in the Australian bush. It features animated images with sounds associated to text.

The Crackerjack Crossword is a great interactive way to reinforce learning of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. It includes over 150 rotating clues and answers, as well as hints. This activity is suitable for students in Years 3–6.
